My Promise

If an edge does not meet your expectations, tell me and I will re-do it at no charge.

Terms of service

Sharpening removes metal
Every sharpening takes steel off the blade, and I strive to remove as little metal as possible. Heavily damaged, chipped or previously badly-ground edges may not be fully recoverable. If a blade will lose significant width to come back true, I tell you before we start.
Prices and approval
Prices shown are for items in sound condition. Anything needing repair beyond a standard sharpen is photographed and quoted before work begins, and no additional work is done without your approval. A declined quote is returned unworked and refunded, less return shipping.
Turnaround
Two to three business days on the bench once your items arrive, plus transit each way. Route-day work returns by post on the same schedule.
Shipping to me is at your risk
You ship at your cost. A parcel lost or damaged on the way to us is a claim against your carrier, not against me — I strongly recommend tracked, insured postage. Return shipping is always tracked and insured on my account.
Condition on arrival
I photograph every item before I touch it, and photograph the packaging if a parcel arrives poorly packed. Those photographs are the record of what was received.
Liability
If an item is damaged while in my care, I will replace it.
Items I won’t attempt
Some blades shouldn’t be put to a wheel or stone. If I can’t service an item safely I'll return it unworked and refund the sharpening fee.
Route pickups
I text the evening before. If items aren’t ready or accessible at a scheduled stop, I'll reschedule to the next availble day; a second missed stop is charged at $15.
Publication
I use photographs of finished work for website and marketing purposes. If you prefer your work not be published, please let me know beforehand.
